The Saskatoon Trades and Skills Centre (STSC) was established in 2007 as part of a larger initiative to revitalize core Saskatoon neighbourhoods, address the needs of Saskatoon and area employers for skilled workers and prepare vulnerable youth and young adults for employment and career opportunities in the trades.
As a not-for-profit organization that is responsive to both industry and community needs, STSC’s goals are:
- To deliver short-term trades and skills training to young adults, leading to entry-level jobs in industries where workers are in high demand; and
- To work with industry in developing and delivering relevant and recognized programs that respond to industry needs for trained and skilled workers.
More than 160 students have taken advantage of 14 different programs offered to date by STSC. Programs have been offered in a variety of areas, including:
- Commercial Construction;
- Electronic Assembly;
- Steel Stud and Drywall;
- Masonry;

All training courses offered by STSC include:
- Specific occupational training, both practical and theoretical;
