Security Officer Training
Course Details:- Train to be a security officer for the Saskatoon Health Region. Become a security officer and carry out routine security rounds. A challenging and rewarding career resulting from working with a team of dedicated professionals within health region facilities, where safety and compassion are of the utmost importance. Gain valuable hands-on experience that may lead into further law enforcement training in the future.
- Applicants must have their Grade 12 or GED. Applicants can currently be working on GED or in Grade 12 but must be complete by August 30, 2012.
- Have a clean Criminal Record Check (CRC).
- Pass the PARE assessment ($50) – If selected for the program you will be reimbursed assessment costs. PARE assessment offered at the University of Saskatchewan. Please contact Meranda at 385-3504 or stsc@saskatoontradesandskills.ca.ca for more PARE information. NOTE: MUST RECEIVE MEDICAL CLEARANCE BEFORE TAKING THE PARE TEST.
- PARE assessment must be successfully completed prior to applying.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Apply by June 15, 2012 (if PARE assessment is completed).
- Training will take place in the Fall 2012 – dates will be announced
- All candidates must successfully pass the required Self-Defence training course in order to receive a position within Security Services. Annual re-certification is mandatory.
- Related security equipment necessary for the job are issued to the officers by the work facility or Saskatoon Trades and Skills Centre.
- Security Officer training includes a two day Verbal Judo, (effective verbal communication skills course), O.H. & S. training, and First Aid and C.P.R.
